A 5-Day Intensive Workshop on Grant and Proposal Writing for Early & Mid-Career Scientists

Training Overview
The objective of the 5-day intensive workshop on “Grant and Proposal Writing” is to empower the participants to synergistically leverage their areas of expertise with broader organizational objectives to align with the acquisition of international donors. The workshop is designed to succinctly and practically equip participants with the skills to conceptualize, develop, and present research ideas that resonate with the objectives of donor agencies from different sectors.

Who Should Attend?
This Grant and Proposal Writing Certification Training workshop would be best suited for:
i. Postgraduate students seeking scholarships, or grants for their research
ii. Scientists/researchers from either academic or research institutions
iii. Development actors from either NGOs, humanitarian organizations, consulting firms,
freelance consultants, etc.
iv. Anyone responsible for the acquisition of funding on behalf of their organizations.
Training Focus
The workshop is designed to furnish participants with teaching, practical, and hands-on training
sessions on how to source, develop, and write competitive grant proposals for international
donors. Participants are expected to be exposed to:
i. Practical evaluation of donor’s objectives and expectations from grant applications
ii. Exploring and identifying relevant calls for participants based on their respective
interests, profile, and pursuits.
iii. Understanding of the principles, procedures, and guidelines for acquiring international
donor funding
iv. Step-by-step guidelines on the development of competitive grant proposal applications
v. Practical session on articulating elements of proposal writing including the theory of
change, budgets, work plan, etc.
vi. Building relationships and leveraging professional networks to develop competitive grant
applications
vii. Tips on self-review and evaluation of research grants and proposal applications
viii. Post-training hand-holding support on personal and collaborative research and grant
writing applications

Training Approach
The training will be delivered by a team of experienced facilitators with a track record of several
internationally funded research and developmental projects in various fields, both in sciences
and social sciences. The training will involve practical activities, group discussions, class work,
assignments, and presentations of jointly developed group proposals.

Application Fee:
The application fee will be based on the mode of participation. Interested applicants are
expected to pay the following fee:

Applicants should scan and send their payment receipt to the Finance & Administrative Manager via email: ol.adetoye@eerce.org. All applicants are expected to submit an expression of interest at least 2 weeks before the training date while payment should be made at least 1 week before the training date for effective planning.
Application Date & Procedure

The training is scheduled to hold between the 27th and 31st of March 2023. All interested applicants will be required to submit their expression of interest with evidence of payment on or before 17th March 2023. The training is designed for a maximum of 50 participants, applicants are hereby encouraged to ensure timely submission of their expression of interest and also ensure early payment to secure their booking. Please, kindly note that the submission of an expression of interest does not imply statutory acceptance to participate in the training.
